For travel magazines relating to a beach, it usually have a photo of the shoreline with a sunset to draw the audience in to see the natural beauty of the shoreline and conveys to the audience that you can be here as well, if you read inside. The mast head is front and center and usually have the country or the region's name to allowed readers to be aware that this is where the picture is taken from. The cover used white, green, and orange text and text boxes as a way to contrast from the image itself to allow for easy reading, but they chose these specific colors because those colors are used in the Irish flag to relate to where the location is. The placement of cover lines are placed based on the image. For example, 'Ireland is waiting,' is placed based on the ocean view with Ireland is being placed exactly on the shoreline as to guiding the reader's eyes towards the cover lines. Waiting and the cover lines are placed within in the water as a way to show this is what is in Ireland. For the cover line relating to 'Through the Lens,' it is placed in the sky part of the image because we usually look up into the sky to tell the time, and what the cover line entail is the history of Ireland through time.
The masthead is front and center to state where the image was taken from, but this time it's a regional area rather than a country. In order to know exactly where the image is from, we look at the cover line on top of the masthead, which reads 'Meet Maine's 677 Spiders,' and we now know this is from Maine. The cover line is in the water for an easier guide to reading them, since the main focus of the cover is the water. The shoreline is targeted as a way for some people to notice. For example, frequent readers that enter in the contest are more interested in the cover line on the shore, and the bar code is more focused on those who are buying it and those who need to scan. The text color is mostly relating to the shore's white and the water's blue but reader in pink contrasts the colors in order to draw the attention into the cover line. The text font is more luxurious for the masthead. The rest of the text on the page is bold and in caps to catch the attention of the reader by their appearance.
The masthead is located at the top of the cover in the middle and it shows this photo is from Maui. This is backed up by the cover line on top of it saying, win a dream trip to Maui. No Ka 'Oi under Maui is translated as 'Simply the Best' in English, to allow audience to learn and be interested in Maui's culture. The cover lines are aligned as if they too are riding the waves with the surfer on the cover. The decision was made because the main cover line which is on top of the wave, is talking about the surfer's point-of-view when riding Maui's famous waves. The other cover lines are not related to surfing, but if the designer arranged it as if it was a wave it will be easier to read and understand the cover more visually. The text colors show a white, yellow, and orange. It used white for eligibility to read, but yellow and orange gives a warm and sunny vibe suggesting Maui is warm and relaxing to be to draw the readers in from the contrasting beauty blue. The text font is all in bold to allow readers to read, Jaws have a more playfulness to it to draw in readers that are particularly interested in the original movie.
