Advertisements/Article Types: The advertisements being done for the above magazine are a mix of well-known places and not-so-common area spots such as Morocco. This allowed for new and frequent travelers to discover and learn more about areas they never seen before. The above magazine have Budget on its title and advertisements relating to the countries have to do with spending money at a low cost but still getting the full treatment to the areas being advertised.

Model/Celebrity: Usually no celebrity is shown when relating to a travel magazine, but well-known names who just came back from a vacation could potentially be featured in these magazine to not only share their experience of travel, but to garner attention from the general public. A model of someone from a featured vacation spot are more likely to be featured. For example, if the magazine is talking about traveling to Mexico during celebrations of the Day of the Dead, they will add people. who do celebrate it on their cover while wearing or using traditional Day of the Dead items. 

3. Genre Conventions: Production Techniques

Layout: In travel magazines, they will state the brand of magazine in the masthead, which is the very top of the magazine cover. Then under it, will be the main headline. For travel magazine, the location of the main image used on the cover, will be stated as the first word in the main headline section, to tell readers in case they don't read, the location of the photo. The taglines and puffs are also on the covers on travel magazines, but they highlight other locations of the world rather than the same location as the photo. This allows the reader to acknowledge that the magazine inside will tell lots more vacation spots rather than one location. The date is used to show what date the magazine have been issued and the barcode is used for marketing purposes so it allows readers to purchased the magazine.

Colors: Depending on the photo, it controls what colors the magazine will have. For example, in the above picture it shows the ocean plus land and in turn it made the main headline the same blue as the ocean, while the yellow for the taglines represent the land, but a brighter yellow was used in order to capture the audience with the bright colors.

4. Institutional Conventions: How is it Marketed?

The magazine could be for all ages, but it primarily targets young adults and adults who just need a vacation. It could be primarily young adults and adults because there may be an article on luxurious wine drinking in Italy or a dangerous adventure in Australia that is only intended for 18+ people. It could as well target kids as an audience, but having magazine articles/stories they may be interested in such as a local Zoo or Walt Disney World in Orlando. The magazine are marketed through monthly subscriptions that people can subscribed too or being sell at bookstores and supermarkets.

Wanderlust is one of the many travel magazine out on the market. The main image of a location in Japan captures the viewers by using the aesthetic of the trees, the sky, and Mount. Fiji in the background, which all brought together an extremely beautiful photo and draws people into visiting Japan.The article's taglines talks about other locations that isn't related to the photo, so it allows people who do read the magazine the opportunity to learn more location to visit rather than just one.

Affluent Traveler is another type of travel magazine on the market. The main image, which is a wide shot, shows a location in Dubai and someone facing towards the building. This allows the viewers to get an idea on how big the building. For their taglines, they as well have a play on words relating to the location by using the same letter for describing a city of location such as Dazzling Dubai and Natural New Zealand. The play on words allows the reader to have an understanding on a location while looking through the cover.

8. Representation

The representation a travel magazine is to show the audience a quick glance at a location, usually using beautiful photos. They could represent a location negatively by misleading their viewers into thinking the whole country is beautiful and aren't struggling, for example for India, they used a photo of glorious Dubai, but the rest of the country is struggling making meet ends with food, water, and housing. They also can represent a place positively by showing these beautiful photos. Florida's main source of income is tourism. Whether the photo is from Disney, the beach, or the Everglades, the tourists will find it all so beautiful if the photos are aesthetically pleasing and will make plans to travel to "Sunny" Florida.
