Constructing the Cover

Today is finally the day of making my cover. I'm using Adobe InDesign in order to achieve in making my cover! To start off building the cover, I place my main cover on the spread I made in InDesign.

When placing the main image, I was considering and imagining where I'll place the masthead and my other headlines and I felt placing the photo like this, everything will fit perfectly.

When it came time to place the masthead, I was quite a bit off on my placement. By quite, I mean A LOT. But it worked out perfectly, because I left enough room so I was able to adjust the image's placement.
After I place the masthead, the image still have the general placement i wanted since the start, which is good, since I have a lot of room to add the headings and the bar code which I planned to add on the lower right corner. The masthead as mentioned previously is Rouweth and the text under it which is Wynwood, Florida is with Bangla MN from InDesign. I used Bangla since it seems like a serious text, but it still have a playful tone that correlates with the main masthead.

Next, it was time to put the other headlines, which I stated I wanted the main attention grabber sentences to be in Rouweth, but I'm still conflicted in regards to text under it describing the story itself. I have been going back and forth between using Bangla again or considering doing an
attempt to use another font.
Here is where I placed everything initially. Personally, I like the Rouweth and Bangla combination together since it correlates with the masthead. I kept everything in a white color because it allows easier focus and attention on the content. I wanted to color drop various colors from the image and implement it to the text, but I felt it would become too messy and disorganized, so I scratch this idea. I feel as though to keep this idea going for a table of contents and the main story since both don't a dominant photo as the background. I'm happy with the results of this final cover, that I come with and soon, I'll be working on both the table of contents and the double spread soon! Until then! :]
